Why Do We Choose To Be A Membership-Based Practice?

As small business owners, we have been encouraged to write blog posts to communicate and share our passions with our patients and potential patients but the thought of just laying things out there is very scary. We hope patients find us organically or are referred from our current patients, which happens but it has become clear that we have to take the lead and make sure we are reaching out to share who and what we are.

With all that being said, we wanted to share our thoughts on how a membership style medical practice will help improve health and wellness without breaking the bank or causing financial anxiety.

True Care Health & Wellness is a Naturopathic Wellness Clinic. What is that? Well the doctors who own and practice at the facility are Licensed Naturopathic Physicians that focus on preventative and root cause modalities to help their patients reach their desired health goals. The majority of Naturopathic practices are cash-based practices due to the difficulty and limitations set by insurance companies to get contracted (become in Network providers) to see insurance patients. These difficulties affect both us as practitioners who want to help patients and patients who what to focus on true prevention or are looking for something different to help achieve their health goals. There are some Naturopathic practices that are able to get contracted and some that team up with Allopathic (MD) or Osteopathic (DO) practitioners to bill under the allopathic license but those practices also have limitations when it comes to offering true Naturopathic care.

While researching ways to improve outcomes for our patients, as well as grow our business, we found a growing trend of Naturopathic and Allopathic physicians switching over their clinics from insurance-based practices to membership-based. These are also known as Direct Primary Care or Concierge practices. These practices have many different set-ups, and if you are interested in them, we highly recommend you do your due diligence to ensure you choose the best practice for your lifestyle.

At True Care Health & Wellness we wanted to develop a membership plan that would truly change the relationship between us and our member patients. We feel that if our relationship is mutually trusting and honest, we can truly make positive changes in the health & wellness needs of the member. To that note, all potential members are scheduled for a complimentary consultation prior to signing up to ensure that both parties are comfortable with one another before embarking on the journey. Our membership plans are monthly memberships and include unrestricted monthly visits, access to the primary physician’s personal contact info, acupuncture treatments at no additional cost and significant discounts on supplements and treatments offered at the facility.

We feel that if the member knows that they have a compassionate medical team that they can contact without hassle or worry about cost, they will be more apt to participate and engage in their health & wellness rather than push it off until their health is jeopardized.
